I was told this catalog came with a Popy Raydeen, if so, then why the HUGE picture of Grandizer on the front? It actually looks like it is more of an advertisement for jumbos in general and attachment arms in specific. It's also a little bigger size wise and smaller page count wise so perhaps it was just an additional toss in catalog. Either way it's still damn cool... Please excuse my nonsensical rants about these things, sooner or later we'll get the legendary ALT to tell us what they *really* say!

JUMBO LINE UP (right)
(L-R) Getta Poseidon, Raydeen, Grandizer, Getta Dragon, Getta Liger
The super interesting thing about this picture is that the Grandizer and Dragun seem to be of prototypes, rather than actual production pieces. They might not even be Polyethylene, possibly carved out of clay or wood. This happened a lot on boxes where they would take pictures of the prototypes to get the printing going and then ended up making some changes to the figures before they were mass produced so the images on the box looked slightly different than the toys. See Getta III for a great example of this. In this case, Grandizers arms are all zig-zaggy and shaped differently, and his waist is blue rather than yellow. On Dragun, check out those wacky hip stickers..

ARM ATTACHMENTS (left, second from top)
Here's a really good shot of almost all of the Arm Attachments. Both the XX & ZZ Series. If these look cool and you want to know more about them, be sure to check out the article "attach this" we wrote about them.

JUMBO ARM CASTLE (left, third from top)
ZZ-8 was this "castle" with all kinds of jumbo arms sticking out of it so you could stick all of your arms on it and make a very heavily armed

fortress. I think this is a mail- in coupon for it but I could be very wrong.

GRANDIZER'S SPACER (right center)
Another Mail-In special was the spacer for Grandizer. Popy gave away a ton of these every month for a long time yet it's still a pretty rare piece, maybe because of the size (it's huge) lots of them got thrown out by parents when the kids moved out, maybe because it's so damn cool that a lot of kids kept it after they grew up. Who knows exactly. Check out Grandizers Profile for more info and actual pics of it!

CONTEST FORM (left bottom)
I think Matt Alt said this is some kind of a mail-in for for the Jumbo Coffin Box Holder Thing. And yes that is the official name. Check out Catalog #3 for more pics of that. Aparently this is a survey form asking what are you favorite arm attachments, your favorite Jumbos, your favorite chogokin, your favorite popynica, etc.. so then after you finished pouring your heart out you'd mail this in and popy would choose a few each month and send them some free arm attachments and the coffin box. Unfortunatly the contest expired in 1978.
